Don't be fooled- the thing is less than four feet long and not adjustable, so while it may "fit" into a 5 1/2 foot space, it is much smaller than that! I haven't been able to test its rigidity since it is too small, though unless you get very lucky and have studs in the right spots, the three sheetrock anchors wont stand up to regular use.
